The health of your eyes will be assessed during your eye care appointment. Several eye conditions can preclude you from being able to get LASIK surgery. If you have keratoconus or keratoconus runs in your family, you are likely not a good candidate. If you have an eye infection or inflammation of the eyes, you should not get this surgery.

You may also be ruled out if you have cataracts or glaucoma. Your eyes should be in good health without any underlying conditions that could make the surgery complicated or hamper your recovery. If you have had past eye surgeries or injuries, you may not be a good candidate for LASIK.
