LIST OF SERVICES

CATARACT
A cataract is a cloudy area that occurs in the lens of the eye, causing a gradual loss of vision. Because cataracts are a normal part of aging, all men and women are at risk for them. In fact, about half of all Americans over age 60 have cataracts. Because Dr. Philips performs hundreds of successful procedures per year, he brings exception skill to the process of cataract removal. He takes extreme care in assessing each patient and prides himself on his ability to achieve truly excellent results.
Cataract removal is a relatively simple outpatient procedure that Dr. Phillips performs using a gentle eye drop anesthetic --it requires no shots, no stitches and no hospital stay. Once the cataract is removed, Dr. Phillips implants a carefully selected state-of-the-art intraocular lens to restore your vision. As a result, even patients who have worn glasses most of their lives may no longer need them. Recovery time is minimal, and most patients resume their normal activities the very next day.

  • GLAUCOMA
Glaucoma is a condition of increased fluid pressure within the eye which causes damage to the optic nerve and loss of peripheral vision.  Over 5 million Americans are blind from glaucoma. Glaucoma is the second overall leading cause of blindness in the United States. The symptoms of glaucoma are virtually non-existent and the disease has often been referred to as the Silent Thief of Vision. With the exception of narrow angle glaucoma often referred to as acute angle closure glaucoma, the majority of glaucoma is without symptoms.

The risk factors for and causes of glaucoma are family history, age (over 40), nearsighted, African American, Hispanic, diabetic and hypertensive. Please remember glaucoma can happen to anyone even if you don’t fit the profile. If you have a first degree relative with glaucoma you chances of inheriting the disease is nine times greater.   Glaucoma treatment for the most part is the prescribing of eye drops to either decrease the production of fluid in the eye and or enhance the outflow. It's not that simple in that some cases require surgery but that is not the rule. We are there for you throughout the entire treatment process to ensure that you preserve as much as your vision as possible.

  • RETINA
We provide primary eye care to patients with retinal conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal detachment. We collaborate with the best specialists for these conditions to obtain the best possible outcomes for our patients

  • CONTACT LENSES
Our office provides contact lens services for our patients. Contact lens fittings may be provided the same day of the comprehensive eye examination. Occasionally, trial lenses have to be ordered. Also, insertion and removal training for new wearers may have to be done another day. Note: contact lenses services are charged in addition to the exam.
  • REFRACTIVE

Laser refractive surgery has seen a significant increase in popularity over the past decade.  This popular procedure is done as a corrective measure for those suffering from nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.  Millions of these procedures have been performed throughout the country with an overwhelming rate of satisfaction.

Phakic intraocular lenses can correct vision in many people for whom laser vision correction may not be an option. If you wish to be free from glasses or contacts, or just want to greatly improve your vision, corrective eye surgery could be the solution.  There are many different types of surgeries offered today.

  •

Lasik is the most common form of laser vision correction.  It is a rapid, effective way to dramatically improve your vision. It is the most commonly performed elective surgery in the United States. Millions of people worldwide have had Lasik laser vision correction including professional athletes, airplane pilots, military personnel and medical personnel.
Dr. Phillips also performs Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) a no cutting alternative to Lasik.  It is a safer alternative in some patients who are not good Lasik candidates due to thin corneas, dry eye, or asymmetric astigmatism.
